At SpeakLife, every child is viewed as fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Dr. Lackey recognizes that each child is unique, with their own personality, learning style, strengths, and areas of need. Thus, evaluation and intervention services are individualized for each and every child.
About
Meet Kimberly Lackey.
Dr. Lackey has been a speech-language pathologist for over 20 years. She received her doctorate from Florida State University in 2006, after which she gained experience and expertise through her work at the Florida Department of Education, followed by her faculty position at Western Carolina University. Through these positions and her work with children, she developed a passion for communication and literacy. She has had opportunities to develop school-based programs for children struggling in reading and writing, as well as trainings for practicing speech-language pathologists and graduate students, highlighting the relationship between speech, language, and literacy.
Since moving to the Charlotte area with her family in 2015, Dr. Lackey has worked in private practice with children of all ages, from toddlers and preschoolers to high school students. From her continued passion for supporting and serving children and their families, she began SpeakLife Speech, Language, and Literacy Services. Dr. Lackey continues to find great joy in providing services with the highest level of quality and care through SpeakLife. These services include not only evaluation and intervention for children of all ages, but consultation, collaboration, and advocacy as well. Her priority, however, is building relationships with the children and families with whom she works.
Recognizing the reciprocal relationship between speech/language and reading/writing, Dr. Lackey weaves literacy into everything she does. Along with supporting children in developing speech and language skills, she provides evaluation and intervention services for children with dyslexia and other types of literacy-related disabilities. She enjoys working with children of all ages, whether helping preschoolers gain new words and phrases or supporting school-age children in improving spelling and written language skills.
